Deep down inside, for some reason or the other, we all believe we are special whether our parents tell us or not. I'm not talking about "my parents call me Princess & Superior" special, I'm talking about each one of us searching for the right answers at the right time so we can walk our individual paths. That is such a healthy thought that so many of us are taught to let go of.
In the midst of economic downturn it becomes even more difficult for young people (like 22 year old me) to keep their perspective. This is the first time in many young lives that we have been crushed by fears both financial, global, and personal. There is this fear in students now, that is the same fear felt by graduates of every generation. Yet how did any of us get this way? We were all trying to live as if we weren't special. We don't all have to be radically different, but we do need to keep in mind that the key to a healthy life is giving yourself room to err, learn, grow, and most importantly room to be challenged.
And when I say room to be challenged I mean forgiving yourself for being in a financial scrape so that you can job search guilt free, and so you can find the job that is best for you.
